Dear Covid 19

Dear COVID-19,

Thank you for the wonderful family bonding moments, the extra movie nights. We loved the sleep-in mornings due to home-based learning & work from home. It felt like reunion lunch & dinner during the circuit breaker, where all our family members were present to dine together.

Joining in the flashlight segment at 8.20pm, using our mobile phones to flash through our balcony was a new experience for us.

We loved the new experience of having Zoom meetings, virtual parties & gatherings. Meeting my grandparents over video calls was also a new experience! :)

This year, we got to experience a different kind of National Day. The celebration was split up into 2 parts – parade (morning) and performance (night). In previous years we usually got tickets to watch the parade ‘live’ but this year we watched it on TV from the comfort of our home. We recited the pledge as proud Singaporeans & sang the national anthem loudly in our living room. The kids do miss watching the parade ‘live’, but they understand that due to COVID-19, we are not able to do so.

Joining in the flashlight segment at 8.20pm, using our mobile phones to flash through our balcony was a new experience for us. We loved the unity among our neighbours. Lastly, to end the celebration, we were super-excited to see fireworks from our balcony!! It was a rare sight.

We hope that COVID-19 will soon be history in our lives.
