Dear Covid 19

Dear COVID-19,

You’ve been pretty busy this year, huh? I almost came into contact with you through a client of mine last month, so they gave me a QO to serve out, which wasn’t too bad. I got to do things that I always wanted to but didn’t have the time for, like exercising and binging on Netflix documentaries, etc. What was really enjoyable was hanging out with my wife (who’s expecting) and my 2 dogs.

Part of me was stoked to be home with my wife and dogs again, but the other part of me was freaking out about my shop, financially.

I’m a barber so my working hours can be pretty erratic and exhausting. Heading back to work post QO was a little nerve-racking because your numbers kept climbing. At the time, we were still considered an essential service and I was grateful that I still could work.

After a week back at work, they started the circuit breaker. We were then deemed a “non-essential” service and they told us it would last till the 1st of June. Part of me was stoked to be home with my wife and dogs again, but the other part of me was freaking out about my shop, financially. Having a kid on the way and you ravaging the state of the everyday norm started to freak me out a little. Nonetheless, they allowed us to head back to work about 3 weeks earlier and we have been busy as ever.

That being said, I think you’ve really helped people and businesses re-evaluate themselves. However, I’ve also seen the numbers and how many lives you’ve claimed. It’s catastrophic. I can only imagine how hard it must’ve been for the families who couldn’t give their loved ones a proper goodbye due to how contagious you are. So COVID-19, I think you’ve done quite enough and we are learning real quick about how to deal with you. It’s time for us to get back on with our lives and I hope sometime in the near future we can say goodbye to you for good.
