Dear Covid 19

Dear COVID-19,

You've had me looking at the same four walls day in, day out. My sleep cycle’s a mess, my phone can’t stop vibrating and I’ve got to entertain lizards coming.

The loud thoughts pounding, my body aching and my hands itching. Yet, my heart is pumping from all the love from friends and family. My phone buzzes with friends checking in, family chatting and volunteers conversing. I stay up talking hours on end with precious friends till the wee hours of the morning. Volunteering continues with partner collaborations to support communities online and offline.

For me, fulfilment wasn’t just found outside the house, it could be found at home.

My cats sneak their fluffy heads through the door crack and purr for food, otherwise bringing lizards in, surprised at the unusually long time hoomans are at home. For me, fulfilment wasn’t just found outside the house, it could be found at home. My brother overseas, my sister living halfway across the island, when else do we find a time when all of us are at home and schedule a call together – a family photo on screen. I am locked up but not locked out.
